Children looking to joining our fabulous village Primary School in Sept 2016 can take a tour of the school with their families this Friday between 0930 and 1130, or next Wednesday between 1330 and 1500.
Barnaby’s will be open on both days and we are right across the road, so you will have somewhere to chat about your tour afterwards! There will be loads of mums and dads here, so feel free to ask them (or us) any questions too. Meanwhile, you’ll find lots of great information about the school on swanmoreprimary.org.uk.
Wow! What an amazing day at Barnaby’s yesterday! Your favourite coffee shop never looked better, and it was standing-room only throughout the day for our participation in The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. Volunteers volunteered, bakers baked, decorators decorated, and by the end of the day we had made a huge donation to Macmilan Cancer Research. There are some great photos now live on our Facebook page, including one taken of our 200th Facebook follower who popped in!
This event had raised over £25 million for cancer research and patient care. We are extremely proud that Barnaby’s has been able to contribute £242:30 towards the success of this years event. You can watch the donations rolling in at coffee.macmillan.org.uk.
Special thanks go to Peter – an absolute star who worked a double shift (that Kingdom training was worth it!), plus Janet, Sam and Jane for working their socks off, and all of our cake baker volunteers. Huge thanks to those that just dropped in and ended up spending a few minutes clearing tables or serving, or on occasions helping at the coffee machine – yes, it is possible for two people to be operating it at the same time!
Now, how do we top that…?
This Friday at Barnaby’s, join over 160,000 people in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning! This fabulous occasion is Macmillan Cancer Support’s largest charity fundraising event, one that has so far raised over £113 million for cancer research and patient care.
Join us between 9am and 12 noon. Come and be part of something special, and invite your friends through our events page.
Proceeds from the sale of all our cakes will be donated to Macmillan, as will half our coffee sales. If you can’t be there, but would still like to give a donation to Macmillan, just text CUPCAKE to 70550 (one text donates £5), go to macmillan.org.uk/coffee or phone 0845 074 2606.
This Saturday, we play host to Swanmore Amateur Dramatic Society (SADS) with a whole host of cool things going on in Barnaby’s and the Paterson Centre:
– find out about the history of SADS
– see how we make our props and costumes
– browse through photos of some amazing past performances
– free face painting for your kids!
Some SADS members will be in costume throughout the morning, so grab a coffee and have a chat with our fabulous actors. If being on stage is not for you, don’t panic! You might have skills which could enhance future productions such as lighting, sound, script editing and more. Come and ask!
Can’t make it? Pop a note in your diary to come and see “Camelot. The Panto” on 3rd, 4th and 5th December. Full details here.
The official Barnaby’s Facebook page has become rather a busy place over the past few weeks, with some great news and stories from your favourite coffee shop. This week we were joined by our 200th follower – Emily Shepherd.
Welcome Emily. We look forward to meeting you at the Big Coffee Morning on Friday 25th September.

A huge thank you to all those who made our family summer events such a success – with “Cuppa & Colour” every Tuesday and Childrens Storytime every Thursday through the holidays. Many mums took advantage of the chance to enjoy a coffee (and our free wifi) while we entertained their children, so we look forward to organising more of these events during half term in October!
