Art auction Saturday 12th October

As part of Barnaby’s 5th Birthday celebrations, volunteer Berty Ferrone has offered the opportunity for you to bid for one of his fabulous photos that are currently hanging on our wall. Bertys images are wonderfully shot and beautifully framed. We invite you to come in to Barnaby’s this week and enjoy the variety on display.

The auction will take place at 1130 on Saturday 12th October, after which the winner will chose from any of the images displayed. The proceeds will be split between the St.George Foundation and the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

Record amount raised for Macmillan

The Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning has raised a record amount for Macmillan Cancer Support this year. With 50% of Barnaby’s takings added to the total amount raised from the sale of homemade cakes made by our wonderful volunteers, a cheque for £475 has just been sent to this amazing charity!

Huge congratulations go to all the bakers and baristas involved, and to Sarah Walton who organised it all. Well done!

Vintage car display on 12th October

To celebrate our 5th birthday, we’ll be hosting a display of fabulous vintage cars outside Barnaby’s on Saturday 12th October. You are most welcome to come along and talk to the owners. Fingers crossed for the weather! Currently, we are expecting to see the following:

  • Austin 7
  • Austin 10 (pictured)
  • MGB Sports
  • MG Midget
  • Lotus Elan
  • Fordson Dexter tractor

The evening will see the return of the famous Quiz Night – always a fun night. Tickets are now available in Barnaby’s for £10 (£5 for children). Teams of 6-8 are required, so get together and get involved!

Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning this Friday

Macmillan Cancer Support’s biggest charity fundraising event is undoubtedly The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. It will be held in Barnaby’s on Friday 27th September, starting at 9am. There will be plenty of cake for sale, and loads of things for the kids to do too.

Pop in & be part of something special!

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning was first held in 1991, when 2,600 coffee mornings were held simultaneously across the country. Last year, the number was closer to 155,000, and a total of £165 million has been raised for the support of cancer patients as a result. Find out more at coffeemorning.macmillan.org.uk.

Scaffolding goes up

As you will have no doubt seen, there is quite a lot of work being undertaken to the outside of Barnaby’s currently. This is to refurbish a lot of the exterior woodwork and finials around the building, which should not take more than a month.

Don’t be put off! Barnaby’s is open as usual. Please do come on in for yummy coffee and homemade cake. We look forward to seeing you.

Hours are back to normal

With the summer holidays almost over, Barnaby’s resumes its normal summer schedule this week. Our hours are:

Tuesday 2pm to 4.30pm
Wednesday 2pm to 4.30pm
Thursday 9am to midday 2pm to 4.30pm
Friday 9am to midday 2pm to 4.30pm
Saturday 10am to 1pm

We’ve been busy making a number of improvements to Barnaby’s over the summer period and there are lots of great events to look forward to in September and October, rounding off a fabulous fifth year supporting the community. Come and tell us what you’ve been up to!

Changes at St.Barnabas

The vicar of St.Barnabas, Claire Towns, announced today that she will be leaving Swanmore on 5th January to take up a new post near St.Albans. Back in 2014, Claire was instrumental in the transformation of what was the Old School Room in to what is now a bustling community coffee shop. Claire has remained an active member of the BBT ever since. Her support and guidance have been invaluable.

From the BBT, our volunteers, customers & suppliers, we say “Thank you Claire.” We look forward to seeing you and Sally at our volunteers celebration event on 29th September.

Summer schedule begins

From now until Tuesday 3rd September, Barnaby’s summer opening hours are:

Thursday 10am to midday 2pm to 4pm
Friday 10am to midday 2pm to 4pm
Saturday 10am to 1pm

We look forward to seeing you & your families throughout the summer period – we’ll have yummy iced drinks & milkshakes available for you all, as well as coffee & homemade cake!

Our opening hours will return to normal on Tuesday 3rd September.

Barnaby’s is on holiday

In order to give our fabulous volunteers and Team Leaders a chance to grab some time off (oh, and for us to do a spot of painting too), Barnaby’s is now on holiday. We’ll be back on Thursday 8th August at 10am, so we look forward to seeing you all then.

Meanwhile, we want to thank everyone who makes Barnaby’s what it is – customers, volunteers, suppliers and charities. Happy holidays everyone!
